Learning Opportunities

CDPOntario offers a diverse range of learning opportunities designed to meet the evolving needs of career development professionals. These include formal training programs, regularly scheduled Lunch & Learn webinars led by subject matter experts, sessions on emerging and “hot” topics offered during and beyond standard working hours, and interactive online discussions. These forums provide valuable opportunities for practitioners to share insights, raise questions, and receive peer support from colleagues across Ontario and beyond.

Community of Practice Informal Learning

CDP Practice Matters

CDP Practice Matters, hosted by Bella Doswell and Nava Jakubovicz, is open to all career practitioners in Ontario.  This monthly Lunch and Learn webinar that takes place the third Thursday of the month during the noon hour from September through June.

CDPOntario Talks

CDPOntario Talks are free, live webinars and online learning sessions by CDPOntario on topics identified by Ontario CDPs as priority learning needs. They are designed to support ongoing professional development and are either one-hour Lunch & Learn sessions held over the noon hour or Professional Development After 5 sessions offered after work hours and running 60 to 90 minutes.

Professional Development Training

Professional development courses from CDPOntario are designed to strengthen practitioners’ knowledge, skills, and ethical practice within their field. They support continuous growth by equipping professionals with practical tools and reflective practices that enhance service quality and ensure alignment with best practices in an evolving professional landscape.

Career Development Ethics

This course provides an introduction and overview of the National Code of Ethics for Career Development Professionals/Practitioners, including ethical decision-making models.​

​Career Development Theory

This course provides an introduction to and overview of some of the major schools of thought in career development and transition theories. It is not a comprehensive course in the theories used in career development practice and transition but will provide a foundation/framework for practitioners to use when interacting with clients.

​Needs Assessment

This course provides an overview of Employment Needs Assessment, skills, and processes. It includes pre-reading and listening to several “lecturettes” prior to the synchronous classes.
